Jane Adams

Jane is the token estrogen in the band. She is working on perfecting her "rock and roll look" of leather and studs, but she can't quite break out of that yuppie Washington-lobbyist mode that keeps her in pumps and pearls. Jane is a true child of the 70's who remembers record players, pass book savings, 8 track tapes, ORIGINAL episodes of the Partridge Family and Pet Rocks. (Why did her mother feel compelled to dress her like Jan Brady in plaid and stripes?)

Jane enters the world during a time of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, the ORIGINAL mini skirt, station wagons and "Bonanza."

The youngster encounters the music world by
pretending to be Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music"
and shaking her diaper-clad groove thing to "Great Balls of
Fire" at Shakey's Pizza in Sterling, Illinois.
Jane quits piano lessons after completely embarrassing her family during a recital where she didn't know one single note. She sat, she sighed, she stood, she bowed, she quit. She returned to her Donna Summer and Bachman Turner Overdrive records.

The fifth grader appears in national productions of "The Sound of Music" and "Fiddler on the Roof" and is the child soloist for that annoyingly happy musical group "Up With People." Yep, Jane is now a fully indoctrinated child geek. She STILL wore plaids and stripes - together.

Jane finds herself in Woodstock, Vermont where her mother traumatized the family by moving them to New England where she tried to be "Sandy" in GREASE and harden her image (in Vermont?!) But since she never saw Star Wars (and still hasn't - any of them) - she is still a geek. The 80's --- Big hair, The Preppy Handbook, Duran, Duran, DEVO, field hockey, state and regional vocal competition, the junior prom, braces, first heartache (NOT the last!), driver's licensee, Spinal Tap, college applications, the University of Vermont, political science degree, internship in London and Washington, DC, Dirty Dancing, and the most "under 35 James Taylor fan" around. Jane heads to DC to make her mark on Capitol Hill; or at least to find out what all the fuss is about. Enough said.

Jane joins and promptly quits the "Alexandria Singers" after a 10+ year hiatus from singing (she became a staunch Republican and political junkie) because the group did all show tunes and wore polyester costumes. However, a young man, Robert Clark, who is trying to form an acoustic trio spots her and asks her to join him in forming a band. Intrigued and sick of "The Best of Rogers and Hammerstein," she meets Kevin Book and the three begin the original acoustic folk rock trio "Waiting for Jane."

Waiting for Jane writes and releases a CD of original tunes and plays to packed clubs like the Birchmere, Clarendon Grille, Tower Records, Bad Habits, and is featured on the front page (yes, A1!) of the Washington Post about their moonlighting rock and roll status. Oops, Jane forgot to find a husband and have children, so she continues to pursue her career as a lobbyist for the Junvenile Diabetes Foundation while approaching the demise of Waiting for Jane.

After the breakup of Waiting for Jane, Jane and bass player Mark Chandeysson know that they can put a new band together and be back rocking in no time. Jane begins to search for Jake and Elwood to put the band back together. Thanks to the early days at the Seaport Inn, Dave Graziano surfaces. Thanks to Gonzo's Nose, drummer Alex Nguyen takes a chance on some non-rockin' yuppies and knows he can spice up the group. Last, but definitely not least, thanks to Capitol Hill friend, Brian Fortune, lead guitarist Scott Galupo makes Jane's acquaintance at a Capitol Hill function - and he STILL wants to play in the band. There you have it. Blame it on Jane is born. Well, that's about all she wrote. Jane still finds herself dusting off her Stevie Wonder and Prince albums (which have now been converted to disc) and is crazy about red wine, politics, her black convertible Saab, running and golf, and especially her wonderful friends and family. (Oh, and let's not forget her obsession with Troy Aikman!)
